Our investment in Mews: building the operating system for the future of hospitality
Hospitality is one of the largest service industries in the world, yet beneath the surface, even the best hoteliers often still run on systems that were never designed for modern scale, real-time operations, or today’s guest expectations. Fragmented software, manual workflows, and legacy infrastructure constrain both profitability and experience across hotels globally.
The magic of this industry lies in creating human connection and memorable, if not life-changing, experiences. The best hospitality providers want tools that allow them to provide genuine care and personalised service, turning transactions into relationships in a way which makes guests feel valued, building the loyalty essential for long term success. From our first conversation with Richard and Matt, it was clear they had not only the ambition and execution track record to scale a global company but more importantly still, a deep knowledge of the industry and sensitivity for their users, which inform every decision.
This is why we are thrilled to announce Atomico’s investment in Mews, the world’s leading hospitality operating system, as part of the company’s $300 million Series D alongside EQT, HarbourVest and existing investors Kinnevik, Battery Ventures and Tiger Global.
Mews is re-architecting hospitality technology from the ground up. Rather than layering incremental tools on top of outdated property management systems, Mews has built a unified, cloud-native platform that connects revenue, operations, payments, and the entire guest journey into a single operating system. In doing so, it enables hospitality businesses to move beyond property management and toward true guest experience management.
A category-defining platform at global scale
Mews’ momentum over the past few years reflects both the size of the opportunity and the strength of its execution. In 2025 alone, the company grew SaaS gross profit by 55%, processed $19.7 billion in platform transaction volume, and supported 42 million checked-in reservations across 15,000 hospitality customers in 85 countries.
What stands out is not just growth, but how Mews is growing. Its open, API-first architecture has allowed it to become the core system of record for hotels of all sizes, from independent boutiques to large, multi-property groups and brands, while fostering a growing ecosystem of partners across payments, distribution, analytics, and guest experience.
This platform approach has enabled Mews to lead both the operational layer (PMS, housekeeping, workflows) and the commercial layer (payments, POS, revenue optimisation) of hospitality, a rare combination in an industry historically defined by siloed vendors.
An AI-native future for hospitality
A central part of Mews’ vision and a key driver of our investment is its commitment to building an AI-native operating system for hospitality. The company is embedding agentic systems directly into its platform to automate complex workflows, reduce cognitive load for staff, and unlock real-time operational decision-making at scale.
This shift has profound implications for the industry. Intelligent automation allows hotels to orchestrate operations dynamically, optimise revenue using live guest behaviour data, onboard teams faster, and scale without accumulating the technical debt that has held hospitality back for decades. Mews’ recent acquisition of DataChat, a generative AI analytics platform, further accelerates this roadmap.
In an industry for which the ultimate customer experience determines success, AI becomes not a replacement for human hospitality, but a force multiplier that gives teams more time to focus on what truly matters: guests.
Why we invested
Atomico has had the privilege of partnering with category-defining companies that combine software and fintech including Klarna, Perk and Factorial. We know that generational companies are built by founders who pair deep technical excellence with the ability to scale globally from day one. Mews exemplifies that belief.
Hospitality is entering a period of transformation, driven by ever-expanding guest expectations about experience, efficiency and personalisation. With access to real-time data, automation and dedicated agents, hotel operators can now run smarter, more profitable businesses at scale. Mews is not simply improving existing workflows; it is setting a new technology standard for how hospitality businesses operate in an AI-driven world.
We are incredibly proud to be joining Richard, Matt and the entire Mews team on their journey, supporting them as they continue to scale globally while re-defining the boundaries of what hospitality can be.
