Welcoming four new faces to the Atomico Angel Programme
Our Angel Programme partners the next generation of European angel investors with the most progressive early-stage founders. In April we announced the first of our fourth cohort of angels, who have already begun investing in a new wave of talent.
For 2022, we changed our approach to allow us to bring in new angels on a monthly basis. This gives us flexibility to add exceptional individuals to the programme throughout the year, as and when we find a match.
We’re excited to announce four new angels, making up our first mid-year May and June cohort. Those individuals are:
Kat Borlongan, Chief Impact Officer at Contentsquare
Kat is Chief Impact Officer at Contentsquare and Board Member of the European Innovation Council. This year, she was named by UNESCO as one of the 50 Minds of the Next 50 Years. She served under the Macron administration for over three years as Director of La French, a government-led mission built to bolster France’s startup ecosystem. She is also co-founder of the open innovation agency Five by Five, acquired by Cap Gemini. Older hats include Director of the Open Data Institute Paris, Techstars Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Managing Director of Reporters Without Borders Canada. She lives in Paris, but (proudly) hails from Manila.
Lex Sokolin, Head Economist at ConsenSys
Lex built and leads the ConsenSys Cryptoeconomics team, and previously was CMO and co-led Fintech and DeFi strategy at the company. Prior to joining ConsenSys, Lex was the Global Director of Fintech Strategy at Autonomous Research, an equity research firm, and served as COO at AdvisorEngine, a wealth management technology platform. He was also founder and CEO of NestEgg Wealth, an early digital investing company. Lex brings a deep understanding of the Web 3.0 space. His newsletter, The Fintech Blueprint, has over 100,000+ subscribers and he is also considered a LinkedIn Top Voice in the FinTech and DeFi Space with over 300,000 followers.
Caroline Hudack, CMO at Impala
Prior to joining Impala, Caroline looked after Marketing for EMEA at Airbnb, sitting on the Executive Leadership Team for the region. She was previously the first consumer Marketing head for Facebook in EMEA, building a local team to scale the market. Caroline comes with impressive growth company experience and a network to match, as well as an understanding of angel investing built through personal investments.
Marcus Hughes, Chief Risk Officer at BitMex
Marcus is a member of the executive board at BitMex, responsible for Regulatory Affairs, Risk, Legal, and Compliance. He has extensive experience in the crypto sphere, having previously led Coinbase’s European business as Managing Director and served as the firm’s International General Counsel. Prior to joining Coinbase, Marcus served as an Executive Director in Morgan Stanley's Legal and Compliance division.
Our newest additions bring diverse perspectives and operational experience to the 2022 cohort, who will help unlock the next generation of Europe's entrepreneurial talent.
Welcome Caroline, Marcus, Kat and Lex!
