Recognising the achievements of a great founder-funder
Carter Adamson, our colleague in New York, has been with Atomico since 2015, but his relationship with many in the Atomico team stretches back even further to his days as Head of Product at Skype, co-founder of Rdio and Atomico’s very first Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EiR) a decade ago.
At Atomico our goal is to be the leading European technology investment platform. To achieve that we need great people, a commitment to developing our talent and deep relationships in the world’s largest consumer markets. We’re therefore happy to announce the appointment of a long-time Atomican to Partner.
His appointment to Partner recognises the impact that he has had in finding and partnering with game-changing late-stage founders in the U.S. who are looking to scale globally. In his new role, he’ll continue to manage sourcing and our relationship with key co-investors in the States, as well as applying his deep knowledge of product in support of ambitious founders.
Carter’s promotion makes him Atomico’s first full-time partner based in the U.S. — supported by Hiro Tamura and the 60-person strong Atomico team in London — to be responsible for proactively sourcing growth stage venture investment opportunities in the region. While Atomico remains committed to being the Series A investor of choice in its home market of Europe, this move reflects our doubling down on also being the international co-investor of choice as a bridge to Europe for growth stage U.S. companies at Series B and C looking to scale abroad. Atomico has a proven track record of investing in U.S. companies considering international expansion, including Clutter, Compass, Memphis Meats, Stripe, Masterclass, Quid, The Climate Corp and Lime.
As a former founder with deep expertise in product and operations, Carter is able to provide unique insights to our gamechanging founders and has proven himself to be an invaluable asset on both sides of the Atlantic. We’re proud to have him as a Partner at Atomico and excited to see what he will achieve in the years ahead as we look to partner with ambitious teams in the U.S. looking to expand abroad.
We’re proud of the talent we have at Atomico and delighted to acknowledge Carter’s contributions with this latest appointment.
